General rants on current events and anything else I may have an opinion on!! (Which is EVERYTHING)

Every time I try to load a DX theme that has systray support I get the following error message:

STARDOCK MCP NOT FOUND OR WRONG VERSION, SYSTRAY SUPPORT DISABLED.

Can someone please help here???
Thanx...

Install 'Stardock Central' https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp

I have StarDock Central installed...that is what I'm using to read and post these messages with.

OK...I'm confused.

What is the deal with the MCP and why is it so hard to get a fix? I emailed Stardock support about this problem 11/7/03. They responded asking me to send them some info about my system. I sent in a detailed snapshot of my system taken with SANDRA. I also sent along screen shots detailing what the problem is, exactly what the error said and showed that I still got the error after "Reinstalling" DesktopX. I have not as yet received a reply.

So, I came to the the discussion boards to pose my question and perhaps find a solution. Once again I get as far as "Reinstall" DesktopX and then no other suggestions.

What is this MCP and where can I find it? How do I check to see if I do actually have the wrong version, as the error box suggests? Where can I download a new one? Why is there all this mystery surrounding it? I read the latest newsletter about DesktopX and the the new Object Desktop 2004. The article never mentions the MCP and if it has been made new and improved.

I hope that you all can appreciate the humor (however poorly done) in my message. I'm not trying to be rude, or as they say in Utah "Ignernt". I'd just like to use the System Tray with DesktopX or at least start doing some constructive trouble shooting.

Thanx...

You need to re-install Stardock Central....for whatever reason, my guess is your present install did not write 'sdmcp' to Common Files/Stardock...

I am completely bewildered... I don't know how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled DesktopX, StarDock Central, WindowBlinds...the whole lot, since the end of October. > Over and over...but for whatever reason (scared away the Gremlins maybe ?????) DesktopX appears to be working. No MCP error. I guess that if you say all the right four letter words in just the right sequence you can see results (my dad taught me that working on cars)

Thanx for...well...making do it one more time!!
